Struggle with low blood sugars

One night, at 3 am; Maahi a type 1 diabetic found herself in a terrible hypoglcyemia (low blood sugars) only to see that she had forgotten to keep glucose powder beside her. Were glucose products simple and easy to use?

Research Pitch to BETIC, IIT Bombay

She then pitched this idea to BETIC - the bio medical lab at IIT Bombay to take hypoglycaemia as a research project.

Meet the founder

Maahi Lakhani is an industrial designer by degree - living with type 1 diabetes since the age of 9.

She has previously designed products for Indian brands such as P-Tal. Low blood sugars were her everyday reality and that's when she noticed that glucose as a category hadn't evolved in India.

PocketGluca brings together her lived experience of low glucose into high quality glucose products with precision and portabilty.
